Got this album immediately cos I am a Steely Dan fan. Its a "safe" album in my opinion. Becker sticks to the house sound, which is never a bad thing, but his voice doesnt really have the spark or personality to make this album a great one. The grooves are solid, the production is great, the reggae bits are innovative, but his voice is just a tad boring. Its uninspiring. But hey, if you like Steely Dan, you will most probably like some songs on this album, you just wont find yourself going back to this as much as you would to Gaucho, Aja, or Katy Lied (three of my favourite albums) and Nightfly definitely ranks higher in my books. Warrants a download at least though.
